Education Department

The Education Department at T.J. Regional Health provides educational, health promotion, and health protection services through the divisions of Continuing Education - Staff Development; Patient-Family Education; and Community Outreach. We emphasize and advocate a spirit of teamwork and collaboration. Whether we are assisting professional and support staff, patients, patient-support teams or our community, we are committed to best practices for best care.

Continuing Education – Staff Development Division

Through the Continuing Education – Staff Development Division, all employees of T.J. Regional Health have access to relevant courses required for relicensure, information or expanded knowledge about a health- or disease-related topic or skill. The division's services include, but are not limited to, providing educational programs that meet the requirements of the governing boards of specific licensed care providers and all associated documentation.

Educational activities that may assist staff in achieving and maintaining competence are also provided in products, procedures and systems, such as:

  • HealthStream Learning System (HLC)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
  • Pediatric Life Support (PALS)
  • Fetal monitoring

  • Nurse Residency Program
  • EBSCO Dynamic Health

Patient-Family Education Division

T.J. Regional Health recognizes that patients and their personal support team are essential to managing care beyond our doors. To this end, the Patient-Family Education Division provides one-on-one education and skill instruction to patients and family members as ordered by the physician, upon request, or with identified need. High-volume and problem-prone diagnoses serve as primary focal areas, such as:

  • Diabetes
  • Anticoagulant medications
  • Asthma
  • COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease)
  • Infant CPR
  • Heart failure
  • Cancer

Our goal is to maximize each patient's quality of life, whether the condition is associated with a life stage or chronic illness. We take time and care to make sure you are comfortable with any skills or knowledge necessary, and make ourselves available if questions arise later.

Community Outreach Division

T.J. Regional Health is proud to be a part of our growing community. The Community Outreach branch of the Education Department focuses on providing education and resources to community members and healthcare partners. Community partnerships include but are not limited to:

  • Working and coordinating with KY-ASAP for Barren, Hart and Metcalfe counties
