Biography

Dr. Behringer received a Bachelor of Science in both Microbiology and Molecular Biology/Biotechnology from the University of Central Florida. Next, he completed the Basic Acupuncture and Moxibustion Training Program at the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine. Dr. Behringer received his Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Florida. He recently completed his Family Medicine Residency at Sampson Regional Medical Center in North Carolina.

When asked why he chose to continue his career with T.J. Regional Health and move to Kentucky, he said, “I joined the T.J. team because they retain a community-based focus that smaller hospitals tend to strive for, but have the innovation and forward-thinking mentality usually reserved for tertiary care centers.”

Regarding his decision to practice medicine, Dr. Behringer said, “Before I became a medical student, I wanted to be a professional musician. I loved the aspect of making people entertained, laugh, smile, as well as teaching it to the next generation of entertainers. Once I got into medical school, I found myself in the hardest gig possible - with patients who are sick and don't want to be at the clinic or hospital. It provided me an opportunity and environment to use my entertainment background to really heal people in ways that medicine could never, all while teaching them how best to take care of themselves.”

In addition to traditional medical school education, Dr. Behringer was trained in Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT) and acupuncture. He has a special interest in treating chronic conditions such as musculoskeletal complaints, migraines, GI symptoms, Fibromyalgia, menstrual cramps, and more in a whole-person approach that is complementary to regular medical therapy.

In his free time, Dr. Behringer enjoys powerlifting, practicing Muay Thai kickboxing, studying history and anthropology, cooking, and spending time with his pets.
