T.J. Educational Scholarship Program

Thank you for your interest in the T.J. Regional Health Educational Scholarship Program!

This is the second year that T.J. Regional Health has offered scholarships to high school seniors who are planning to pursue a career in a healthcare related field, and we’re excited about the opportunity to assist our future leaders in receiving their higher education.

We are awarding three $2,000 scholarships to deserving students in the T.J. Regional Health service area.

If you have a desire to obtain a degree in healthcare or a healthcare related field, then you are in a unique and special position to qualify for one of our scholarships.

Students who reside and attend any high school or homeschool in the healthcare organization’s service area are encouraged to apply, including in Adair, Allen, Barren, Green, Hart, Metcalfe, Monroe, Russell, Cumberland and Edmonson Counties.

Please pay special attention to the following items as part of the scholarship application process:

  1. Online application form - must be completed in its entirety
  2. Personal Essay - type or copy/paste your essay into the last field of the online application
  3. Letter(s) of Recommendation
  4. Recent Photograph
  5. FAQs - many of your questions are answered below
  6. Application checklist - to help ensure that you have completed all required elements

Please note that a recent photograph is required. Photo will only be used as part of the announcement of the three winners.

Q: When is the application deadline?

A: Submissions are due by 11:59 p.m. on Monday, March 20, 2023. Online submissions only. Late submissions will not be accepted.

Q: How many scholarships are being offered?

A: A total of three $2,000 scholarships will be awarded.

Q: Who qualifies to apply for one of these scholarships?

A: High school seniors who reside and attend any high school or home school in the T.J. Regional Health service area and who are planning to pursue a degree in a healthcare related field may apply for a scholarship.

Q: What is the T.J. Regional Health Service Area?

A: Any community where a T.J. Healthcare location exists, including any of our hospitals or clinics and where we provide Home Care services. We have locations in Adair, Allen, Barren, Green, Hart, Metcalfe, Monroe and Russell Counties.

Q: What is the application procedure?

A: Click the Apply Now button to complete the online application in its entirety and submit it via this website along with the other required materials. Please note that all materials must be submitted at one time.

Q: What are the required materials?

  • A completed scholarship application form.
  • Attach a recent photograph (1MB file size max).
  • A personal essay of up to 1,000 words stating your reason for applying for this scholarship, why you are choosing a career in healthcare, and any special needs or family circumstances, plans for the future, and any other information you’d like to share. Your essay is extremely important!
  • Letter of recommendation.

Q: How and when will winners be selected and announced?

A: After the March 20th deadline, a selection committee will review all submissions and choose three winners based on the established criteria:

    • Chosen area of study (strong preference given to healthcare or healthcare related fields)
    • Written essay
    • Grade point average
    • School and community involvement/leadership/extracurricular activities
    • Financial Need

The three winners and all scholarship applicants will be notified by email in April. Winners' high schools will also be notified for inclusion in their annual awards presentation.

Winners may also be announced in local media, on T.J. Regional Health social media accounts, and in our community newsletter, Destination Health.

Selections will be determined through a majority vote of the scholarship committee without regard to race, age, color, religion, sex, or national origin.

Q: Are there any other requirements for scholarship winners?

A: Winners agree to allow T.J. Regional Health to use their name and photograph in public announcements as listed above.

Q: How will scholarship funds be disbursed?

A: Scholarship money will be paid directly to the schools that the scholarship winners will be attending.

Q: Is the scholarship renewable?

A: This is a one-time, one-semester scholarship award and is non-renewable.
