Our pediatric rehab treatments
Our team specializes in pediatric physical therapy, occupational and speech therapies. Our services help children accomplish many things, like learning how to perform everyday activities, control behaviors, and play and learn.
To do so, we help children overcome many challenging conditions, including:
- Autism spectrum disorder
- Dyslexia
- General developmental delays
- Behavioral disorders like attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
- Spina bifida
- Sports injuries
- Infant and toddler feeding problems
- Swallowing disorders
Our kid-friendly facilities and talented staff
Our pediatric rehabilitation team has their own dedicated space at the T.J. Health Pavilion. The area features kid-friendly therapy equipment, like a zip line and climbing gym.
Children receive personalized attention from our licensed therapists, who provide research-proven treatments and compassionate care.
The specific treatments depend on each child's needs. For instance, a physical therapist might work on gross motor skills, balance, coordination and strength. Speech therapists may work on stuttering or improving reading and writing skills. We also coach parents and caregivers on what they can do to help.
Preparing for your child's visit
To make your initial visit as smooth as possible, please fill out the following paperwork beforehand and bring it with you:
Barium Swallow Studies
We now offer modified barium swallow studies for infants and children of all ages for inpatients and outpatients. This swallow test uses a special type of moving x-ray technology called fluoroscopy to see inside of the mouth and neck while the child swallows. This is different than an upper GI and looks more closely at risk for aspiration. We can make recommendations for diet modifications, bottle and nipple flow modifications, rehabilitation and strategies to improve swallow functioning. Previously rural families have had to travel up to 3 hours to have this type of evaluation completed as it requires specialized training.
Summer fun at C.A.M.P. T.J.
Every summer, we proudly host C.A.M.P. T.J., a week-long program for children with special needs from preschool to high school ages. Each year brings a different theme to this fun learning event.
During C.A.M.P. T.J., children receive assistance with fine and gross motor skills, strength, endurance, coordination, handwriting, social skills, speech and self-esteem.
This fun-filled event will be held at Highland Elementary from June 20th - 23rd. For a 2023 C.A.M.P. TJ Informational Sheet, please click Camp TJ Camper Packet 2023. For a C.A.M.P. TJ Flier, please click here.
