School-Based Healthcare

T.J. Regional Health provides school-based healthcare services in the Glasgow Independent School District and in Metcalfe County Schools. One of our primary goals for the school-based health program is to increase healthcare access to every child while they are at school.

Experienced Registered Nurses and Nurse Practitioners offer many services to students on a daily basis. They administer medications, assess illnesses, and provide basic wound care, and they provide tube feedings, catheter changes, and dental exams with varnish application. They also assist diabetic students with glucose checks and carb counting.

To provide healthcare services, a new consent form is required for every student each school year. A school nurse cannot treat a child without the signed consent form on file. Your child’s health and safety is our number one priority and having complete information is critical to providing the absolute best care.
